Rajvir and Pranjol Visit Assam
In a Delhi school, Rajvir and Pranjol were classmates. Rajvir travelled to Assam with Pranjol to spend his summer holidays with his family because Pranjol’s father managed a tea garden there. By train, they were travelling. As the train came to a stop. They purchased tea from a vendor. Eighty billion cups of tea are consumed every day worldwide, Rajvir tells Pranjol.

Rajvir further explained to Pranjol that tea was first consumed in China in 2700 B.C. and that Chinese is the origin of words like “tea,” “chai,” and “chini.” He mentioned that tea was only introduced to Europe in the sixteenth century and that it was used more as a medicine than a beverage.
He related another Indian tea-related legend. The ancient Buddhist monk Bodhidharma removed his eyelids during meditation because he was feeling sleepy. Ten tea plants sprouted from those eyelids. It was thought that the tea plants put into the boiling water would put the banished to sleep.
Both Reached the Destination

They were driven to the Dhekiabari Tea Plantation by Pranjol’s father, who worked as a manager there. They observed a large number of people picking tea while carrying bamboo baskets on their backs.
